Best 4-player co-op games on PC

Four is the classic co-op number: enough people for chaos, few enough that everyone has a job. These PC games are built for a group of four, and a few of them still work when a fifth friend shows up.

How we picked

Every game here supports at least four players together, according to its Steam store page (checked in October 2026). Some are built for exactly four, others have room for more. We grouped them by the kind of night they make: climbing together, physics silliness, scaring each other, and classic action.

A few hugely popular co-op games, such as PEAK and Lethal Company, don’t state a player number on their store pages, so we left them out of this list rather than guess. You’ll find them in our games like PEAK and games like R.E.P.O. guides.

Full disclosure: we make one of these games. It supports 1–8 players, so it’s here because four is one of the group sizes it plays best with, not because it’s built only for four.

Climb together

Chained Together

  • 1–4 players
  • Online + split-screen co-op
  • Anegar Games

Up to four players chained together climb out of Hell. The store page lists a punishing Normal Mode, a Beginner Mode with checkpoints, a Lava Mode and a 2v2 race mode.

Why it’s here: It’s built for exactly four: every jump pulls on three other people, so the whole group lives or falls together.

Drive UP: Together

  • 1–8 players online
  • Windows PC (Steam)
  • Early Access
  • Free demo

A co-op climbing game built on a proper driving simulation. Up to eight friends drive the same route up one mountain: planks barely wider than your axles, near-vertical ramps and the insides of giant pipes. Every meter is earned: one slip can cost you a lot of hard-won height.

Every car is a solid object, so the same controls let you be the bridge (park across a gap so a friend drives over you), the engine (push someone over a ledge no single car can clear) or the problem (tap a bumper one wheel from the summit).

Why it’s here: At four players, the climb turns into rescue missions. When someone gets wedged in a pipe, three people can abandon their runs to free them, or "free" them off the edge. One person can be the bridge while another is the engine, and nobody forgets who tapped whose bumper near the top. It also scales up to eight when more friends join.

Only Climb: Better Together

  • Up to 8 players
  • Online co-op + PvP
  • Exbyte Studios

A climbing game about going higher into the clouds, alone or with a team of up to 8 friends, with no save function and no easy paths.

Why it’s here: A straightforward climb that works at four and still has room when the group grows.

Four friends, one narrow track, and nobody wants to go second.

Physics and silliness

Human: Fall Flat

  • Solo or up to 8 online
  • Physics puzzles
  • No Brakes Games

A light-hearted physics platformer in floating dreamscapes. You play as Bob, who grabs, climbs and carries with two floppy arms; online multiplayer goes up to 8 players.

Why it’s here: It’s the friendliest game on this list for mixed groups, including friends who don’t usually play games.

R.E.P.O.

  • Up to 6 online
  • Co-op horror
  • semiwork

Deep Rock Galactic

  • 1–4 players
  • Co-op FPS
  • Ghost Ship Games

A 1–4 player co-op shooter about dwarven space miners in procedurally generated, destructible caves, with four classes and endless hordes of alien monsters.

Why it’s here: Four players means one of each class, which is exactly how it’s meant to be played.

Left 4 Dead 2

  • Four survivors
  • Co-op action horror
  • Valve

A co-operative action horror shooter set in the zombie apocalypse. You play as one of four survivors across five campaigns, from Savannah to New Orleans.

Making a 4-player night work

  1. Pick by mood, not by hype. Climb, laugh, scream or shoot: ask the group which one before you open the store.
  2. Have a five-player backup. R.E.P.O., Human: Fall Flat, Only Climb: Better Together and Drive UP: Together all have room for a late arrival. For a full group of eight, see our 8-player co-op guide.
  3. Rotate the hard jobs. Whoever carried the group last round gets to be the scout, the camera or the bridge next round.
  4. Use voice chat. Short calls ("wait", "push now", "I’m stuck") save more runs than skill does.
  5. New to Drive UP: Together? Read how to play with friends and our beginner tips first.

Four friends, one mountain

Drive UP: Together is out now in Steam Early Access for 1–8 players online. Try the free demo with your group of four, and invite the other four next time.
